Co-op Education

Career Development

WSU’s Career Development Center provides real-world experience to Shockers before graduation through our cooperative education and internship program. By participating in a co-op or internship, WSU students can have it all: a packed resume, college credit, professional connections, a paycheck — and in many cases, a job offer — putting them light-years ahead of the competition.

Over the past few years, Wichita residents have strived to build their city into a place residents can be proud to call home. Meghan Carver, a Wichita State student majoring in Integrated Marketing Communication, is passionate about the city she’s from and works hard to spread Wichita pride through her work.

That passion can be seen through her involvement in Avenue Art Days, a volunteer-based organization created by the Douglas Design District.

Local artists come together to paint murals all along Douglas Avenue for Avenue Art Days. Last year’s launch was held at the I-35 underpass among murals from past Avenue Art Days.

The event gives Wichita artists and art lovers the chance to get involved in the development of the urbane aesthetic that’s growing throughout the city. Meghan was responsible for running social media accounts for Avenue Art Days, helping with marketing and the mural crawl.

Since starting at WSU in fall 2015, Meghan has taken every opportunity she can to gain hands-on experience to grow her job readiness skills. Her jobs have included working as a student event coordinator and in The Public Relations Institute for the WSU Office of Undergraduate Admissions; interning at Textron Aviation in community and engagement communications; and working for The Greater Partnership of Wichita.

After graduation, Meghan plans to get a master’s in public administration to further her career in community engagement and economic development.
